Closed Churchyard

The churchyard surrounding All Saints' Church in Swanton Morley is owned by the Diocese of Norwich but Swanton Morley Parish Council has the responsibility of maintaining it.  This is because the churchyard is closed for further burials (with the exception of a small number of family plots).  The Parish Council ensures that the grass is cut and that the trees, the wall and the war memorial are well maintained. We also ensure all the memorials are safe, although they remain the responsibility of the relevant family.  Regular inspections of the churchyard are made to uphold these responsibilities.

We liaise with the Parochial Church Council to ensure that we are working together for the betterment of this area, and we have to ensure that we are compliant with ecclesiastical legislation, as well as our own local government legislation.

The churchyard offers fantastic views across the Wensum Valley and is well worth a visit if you are in the village.
