September 2020
Updated: Dec 11, 2020
On 14th September we raised the Royal Airforce Ensign to commemorate the Battle of Britain and to mark the 25th anniversary of the closure of RAF Swanton Morley. On the 20th September the flag was lowered by Councillor Ian Cawdron in a (socially distanced) ceremony whilst the Retreat was played by Neil Smith of Dereham Band. We thank the RAF for allowing us to use the ensign and mark these two events in a fitting way, despite the restrictions currently imposed upon us all. September has also been a busy month getting the village hall ready to receive hirers again, in a Covid secure manner. The Hall reopens to regular hirers only from 1st October. Ongoing Government restrictions mean that it will be sometime before we can welcome private hirers back into the hall to hold celebrations and events but hope residents understand the need to comply with guidelines so that we can all stay safe and help to bring an end to the ongoing situation sooner rather than later.
