Swanton Morley Jubilee Festival

The events hosted at the Village Hall in June of this year had a fantastic turnout of support with many residents joining in the fun and games.

The Chairman remains reigning champion of the family rounders match! Yes, that’s right the Clerk ended up in the stocks! However, it was a fun end to a brilliant afternoon.

The evening saw the official lighting of the  beacon. The children enjoyed decorating lanterns to join in the parade before John Welton and Brenda O’Dowd played for us. The beacon was lit and there was a round of applause for our Chairman Roger Atterwill for climbing the ladder!

Sunday’s event was the Jubilee Picnic – unfortunately due to the weather the event had to be taken into the Village Hall and the planned dog show and visit from the alpacas had to be cancelled. Whilst disappointing we still had a fantastic time! There was music from Rockavox Choir and the City of Norwich Pipe Band. Along with the musical entertainment we also had demonstrations from Galaxy Baton Twirlers and Kids Kung Fu!

The Parish Council provided  bookmarks and teddies to children at Swanton Morley Primary School, Little Swans Pre-School and  Noah’s Ark Pre-School to commemorate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee !
